Prizegiving for the 2011 season last Saturday night was a great affair at our sponsors Hotel Bristol. Great to see so many players, partners, family, supporters and sponsors could make it. Good times with the Rooster family celebrating the 2011 season. Congratulations to all our very deserved prizewinners - for a complete list of our award winners, see our Wests Honours section on the left or click here>>.
Earlier in the day, our Rooster 7s side also put in a fantastic performance in the first WRFU 7s tournie of the season. Lead by coaches Esava Tiko and Puna Kariti, our boys topped their pool - accounting for Norths, Wainui and Poneke before just being nudged by 7s powerhouses Ories in the semi-final. This puts us in with a real chance to complete for the 3-series trophy. Great work fellas and best of luck this week out at Wainui. Training is still 5pm at the club this Thursday for those keen for a run.
Congrats to our Rooster players who have made representative sides this season. Apart from talismanic openside Scott Fuglistaller's consistent standout performances for the Wgtn Lions, our Premier captain Galu Taufale has also made the Wgtn Development side. Two of our most promising young Premiers, Declan McKeefry & Sam Blair have made the Wgtn U20s, with 4 other young roosters (Ra Davis, Thomas Donaldson, Andrew Newson and Wiremu Maunsell) in the U20 Development side. These selections are a deserved reward for lots of hard work from our guys, & provide a great opportunity for them showcase their talents on the rep stage. Also a special shout out to our Manu Samoan Rooster Kane Thompson as he's head into World Cup battle this week. Best of luck Roosters!
